Happy 50th Anniversary!

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

January 27th is my Parent's 50th Anniversary! They met in college at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. My Mom wore a Dior dress made for her by her mother from a pattern. (which my Mom still has) I love all the old cat eyeglasses and how the photographer followed them as they drove off in the car! We had a big dinner party for them over the holidays to celebrate with all of our family down to share it with.
Here are some photos, scanned and converted from old slides and a SLIDESHOW.
Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

My Uncle Joe sent this cool newspaper clipping too!

Homage to the Photobooth

Saturday, January 12, 2008

We all love photobooths! We took our first born's baby pictures at the photobooth in Little Rickies on First Avenue in New York. They had strips of all the famous East Village visitors on their front window! ( Debbie Harry, the Ramones, & the East Village artists Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquait).
The old school kind seems to have disappeared but digital ones are now making a comeback.....a lot of people are renting photobooths for their weddings.

Photographers are also setting up their "own photobooths" with a curtain backdrop to make it look like an old photobooth.
But we can never reproduce that great smell of dektol reeking off the print as it pops down the slot!

New Beginnings

We rescued 15 monarch caterpillars from our Butterfly Weed plant before the holidays. The freeze knocked out all our plants except the one close to the house. We brought the caterpillars in and covered the plant to keep a food source for them and watched patiently over the holidays for them all to cocoon. (We even gave a few away as presents).
On New Years Day our first two butterflies emerged and the girls released them the next day. We'll hope for warmer days so they can make the trip to Mexico.
What a beautiful way to start the New Year!
