Kristen and Nigel/Star Hill Ranch

Monday, December 14, 2009

A beautiful day for a fall wedding at Star Hill Ranch- now that winter has settled in and it's cold and rainy- it's nice to remember how beautiful weddings in November are!
Kristen and Nigel picked a perfect day- the ceremony was right before sunset so we had incredible light.
Austin Catering had an awesome mac and cheese with sage -
Cupcake Tree with red velvet cupcakes by Sugar Mamas, and
Fall Flowers by Bouquets of Austin

Congrats Kristen and Nigel!

Jeff and Beth/Witte Museum Wedding

Friday, December 4, 2009

Ten Things I loved about this wedding!
1. Converse sneakers- all the groomsmen/groomswoman wore them!
2. Female groomswoman- she even wore the suit!
3. Old friends- everyone in the wedding party has know each other since Middle School. And though the couple live in Colorado now- they knew they had to get married in San Antonio!
4. The Witte Museum- how cool is getting married at this fun museum. We had fun taking pics in the museum and the courtyard with the great live oak and the back metal gates are gorgeous.
5. Kiddie Acres!!! This place is so fun for kids- the brides father even went there as a kid but it also makes a colorful background for wedding party photos and it was only a couple of blocks away.
6. Seeing each other before the ceremony- it's great to have to the light and time to shoot all the fun photos before the ceremony starts- then you have plenty of time to do the formals and enjoy your reception afterwards.
7. Ice cold Dr. Peppers and Cokes.
8. A handmade Quaker marriage certificate - all the guests sign as witnesses to uphold the marriage and support the couple.
9. Bubbles and kids- there's always more adults than kids but this one little girl kept her self busy blowing bubbles all night!
10. The grooms Grandmother had a great time on the dance floor and proved that you're never too old to dance!
Congrats Jeff & Beth!

Abby and Michael Engaged!/Shooting on train tracks....

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

This cute couple of Aggies brought their dogs with them for their engagement session.
They were very cooperative- like little actors posing for the camera.
I've always told my friend Suzi Q that I have a pet peeve about shooting on train tracks and I never really understood why so many photographers use them in portrait shoots- I guess they're nostalgic and rebellious in a Johnny Cash way!

(it's illegal to be on the tracks-plus so many people are killed by trains- once the conductor sees you it takes the train over a mile to stop!)
We live right by the train that comes through downtown Buda like 20 times a day-
but this is the first time I've used them- the bright shiny engine was just too tempting- it was parked on a side track off the main one and I knew it was safe to use for a few shots.
So I guess I'll eat my words about shooting on train tracks!
If you google images of train tracks you'll see tons of crazy shots-including bridals. This was one of my favs!
