Nhu said this about her Steve's wedding:
"Our inspiration stems from our love for the Texas hill country. We were already planning our retirement there...what better than to
begin and end our lives together in the same place :) What is it about the hill country - its quaint, untouched, has great BBQ, and a short drive away from our favorite TX city - Austin.
We wanted a more casual wedding that brought together our love for nature and good BBQ. We tried to incorporate the three R's in every wedding idea we had...planning a green wedding was difficult. Some of the green touches: 1) Reused wine and IBC soda bottles for the flower arrangements, 2) Biodegradable plate and silverware, 3) Recycle paper and envelopes for invitation package, 4) old postcards for guest sign-in.
Photobooth and Photo bags - We wanted all our guests to enjoy fun activities while we take pictures. Having a true booth would have been an eye sore. I got the back drop idea from a wedding blog. This idea worked well with our wedding because of the outdoor nature of the venue. We used minimal props so that the guests can bring out their creative side. We got really good, funny ones! On the photo bags...I made each bag with a camera stamp. This allowed the guests to take the pictures home. I was lucky to have known someone who loves photography in their spare time. My little sisters' boyfriend made this all happen...
Decorations - We didn't have to do much since the venue was already so nice. For the areas we did have to think about...Thanks to my sisters and wedding blogs!!!! We pulled off the guest sign-in by using all decor we already have. The sign was a DIY project. The mix nuts was bagged and then sewn together...we loved craft nights! We meaning my sisters and I...not Steve :)
Flowers - Whole Foods created our flower arrangements. All my flower ideas came from blogs, I wanted small arrangements as a touch to the already lovely venue. We used babies breadth outside to keep it simple.
Cake - Michelle Patisserie provided our cake. The design idea came from Utterly Engaged e-magazine. I love it because its simple and brings in the nature."
Since Nhu's 3 sisters were her Bridesmaids and their Father passed away she had a very special way to keep him in her and her sister's hearts-they all wore lockets with his photograph in them.
(They also choose really cute turquoise and white vintage inspired polka dot dresses from Anthropologie!
Cheers to Nhu & Steve- your new life together and your eventual move to Austin!
